Investigations always start with the people closest to the victim. Also his parents didn't plant his body there, they just helped him cover up Gabby's murder and allowed him to kill himself. What I don't get is why it took him so long. His suicide was obviously not over his guilt for killing Gabby but because he knew he was going to be caught.
