(16,844 posts)Where it asks for a list of all the prescription drugs I take, I'm always honest. I'm not on painkillers anymore, at least not opiate painkillers, just Lyrica. I think Lyrica is a controlled substance, but it's not usually the kind of drugs people look for. I've always had prescriptions for everything except the weed, of course.
I've been on a lot of meds for a long time, although only 1 or 2 pain meds at a time. It's been at least 7 years since I took a drug screen, so things might have changed. But, like I say, if you don't write a drug down on the sheet before you take the test, and it pops up in the screening, they likely won't hire you. And make sure you don't have anything in your system that might make you fail.
I think it just takes a few days to get opiate painkillers out of your system. I know that when I went to the pain clinic, if you hadn't taken the drug in more than a few days, it wouldn't show up in their test. So if you took any painkillers you didn't have a prescription for, give it a few days before you take a drug test. I have no idea how to cover up opiate use in the urine.
