many parts of the US supply chain are dependent on immigrant workers. It could be a good way to include a pathway to citizenship and help many businesses get workers.

The thing is many employers have enjoyed screwing their workers during recession and lean times. So when workers find something better they leave, or retire early. So there are tons of jobs where the bosses like to screw workers but Americans are tired of getting screwed.

Many people have reevaluated their priorities in life during this pandemic as they are faced with the possibility of serious illness or death.
