I was somewhat miffed that they refused to pay for a continuing ear/yeast infection when our pooch was a puppy. They insisted it was a pre-existing condition. But . . . when she was diagnosed with kidney problems requiring multiple blood work-ups, urine tests and an ultrasound at a nearby vet hospital, they picked up 90% of the bill after our $350 annual deductible.

We've used pet insurance for the last three dogs. Just in case. Because veteranary fees are really high anymore and every pet owner I know wants to provide the best healthcare they can for their furry family members. You get into chronic illnesses, surgeries or cancer treatment, the bills can go through the roof.

The policy is for the dog as well as insurance for our bank account.
