They may go to one of their cult gathering places to mingle with other like-minded folks - probably to see if they'll increase their arsenal.

My very vague memories of the xian bible seems to talk a lot about using knives to kill as many enemies as possible.

But if the really ancients had space lasers, I'm sure all the heretics would have been fried by now.
