3. During the run-up to the primary here in PA

I was getting multiple-times-a-day calls from both the "NRSC" (National Republican Senatorial Committee) and "NRCC" (National Republican Congressional Committee), and since I usually have the landline close by, I can quickly check the caller ID after the first ring and can do a quick answer/hangup after the 2nd.

But thanks to folks on DU about a decade ago posting about the Digitone call blocker, I bought one then (and am on my 2nd - a newer model), and would use that to add the Repuke numbers into device's block list.

Twice I actually picked up, muted, and waited during that obsessive call period - and confirmed that these weren't even robocall recordings, they were live people who were repeating "Hello? Hello?" to nothing.

After awhile, I kept getting the calls after blocking numbers and realized they were cycling through numbers from a pool of "202-982" (NRSC) and "202-951" (NRCC) numbers, so I programmed the Digitone to block those entire area code/exchange combos, and voila! I get one ring on all phones but the one that has the Digitone (which is on my bedroom phone), and then no other rings, and they apparently get a pick up and then 8 seconds of dead air before it hangs up.

Meanwhile during the same primary, the Democrats were texting my cell like crazy to make sure I planned to vote or had voted and asking whether I supported (fill in the blank) candidate here in PA.

After the primary, some calls continued from those same area code/exchange pools but with the Caller ID listed as "Out of Area" and the Digitone is defaulted to reject anything that IDs as "Out of Area".

So it was interesting to see the "outreach" strategies and for the record, I have never and will never, "touch the lever" (from the old days) of a Republican.
