(31,009 posts)which I thoroughly loved, when I bought into this Epcon community being built in Durham (near Southpoint). It was a Covid motivated move because I felt like I was playing Russian roulette every time I got on the elevator in April 2020. The house was finished in December 2020 and I moved in on Jan 6 2021! I was literally moving in the day of the attack on the Capitol. Had no idea what was happening until Spectrum came to hook me up for internet/cable the next day.
I loved living downtown where I walked to everything. Had tickets for the ballet and symphony where I walked to the performing arts center. There were some weeks I didn't take my car out of the parking garage but once to go to Harris Teeter. Great restaurants in walking distance--a favorite right across the street--and a DG convenience store one block away for picking up milk or something without having to drive to Harris Teeter. I LOVED it. Post office and branch library two blocks away. But Covid changed everything.
I occasionally go on the website for the apartment building. My very same apartment was up for rent several months ago, and it was going for $500/mo MORE than what I was paying for it just two years ago. But Zillow also says my house is worth $200K MORE than what I paid, which is crazy. Just crazy.
Everything is pricey as hell around here.
