My melanoma nightmare update. [View all]

It has been roughly 6 months since my surgery. The 7 inch scar on my face has healed nicely. You can hardly notice it. Some of the feeling on the right side of my face has returned. My face still feels very tight because they pretty much gave me a face lift to cover the wound where they removed the melanoma under my right eye.

My next treatment with the drug Keytruda will be my ninth. Half way home. I am taking it in the hope it prevents the melanoma from returning. It was a miracle my melanoma did not spread. My melanoma was hidden and the doctors have no idea how long my melanoma was there until it was discovered. So far no serious side effects. Six months from now I will get a pet scan and if it shows no melanoma I should be good to go. Get back to a normal life.

After my surgery they gave me a pet scan to see if the melanoma had spread, it did not. However the pet scan showed a spot on my brain and a spot on my prostate. I had to go through the process of getting them checked. The spot on my brain is nothing to worry about and the spot on my prostate is not cancerous. More good news.

Next week I am getting the new covid booster and then I am to to hibernate for the winter.I don't even want to catch a cold these next 6 months. 6 months from now I will be done with the treatments and then I will celebrate.

I have learned a lot about cancer these past 6 months. It's a crap shoot, a lot of luck involved. The most important thing you can do is to get tested and catch the cancer early. If you catch it early you have a good chance to beat it.

For me, I had really bad luck because my melanoma never showed itself and you can't get tested unless it shows itself. Then I had really good luck because it did not spread. I hope I have more good luck.
