(2,379 posts)Saw that the republican candidate for CT State rep. in my district was running unopposed and saw that a candidate on the Working Families Party line for that race was blacked out with a stamp. I asked why and the poll worker told me the candidate died recently and the SOS instructed them to cross out the name on the ballot. I wasn't sure if still voting for that candidate might cause a problem with my ballot so I didn't vote for anyone in that race (there were no other candidates and I refuse to vote for a republican).
As soon as I got home, I called WFP office and they confirmed that, sadly, this information was true.
Anyhow, I voted in a very small, red-leaning town in Litchfield County, Connecticut at around 11 AM and the line was out the door.
