Kelley strikes me as someone who is a hub of gossip. I once had a dear friend who was the male counterpart of Kelley. He was extremely sexual and people told him all sorts of extemely personal and confidential information. Being involved in interior design he had some mega-rich clients and for some reason he engendered incredible trust. I think people recognize people who are extremely good at "gosssip" so they jump on board, knowing that if they drop a few juicy details about themselves they'll be privvy to a lot of information so I think you are right on the mark about Allen wanting to keep an eye on things.
