The campaign season bumps were similar to those before the whiny brat ever ran fir office.
His 4 years in office didn't really reflect a consistent rating uptick (for the industry as a whole) nor did ad revenues reflect greater interest.
This was from the numbers the big 3, Time-Warner, & Comcast as a whole. He wasn't really "better for business" that any other president. And, the bump in 2020 was a combination of typical non-viewers tuning in for COVID daily updates, then the campaign that followed a couple months later.
It seems they fear if there us no horse race, the normal bump won't happen. It's like they are trying to keep something from not happening. Not the most strategic point of view.
Whatever their motivation, it can't be from the great ratings TFG delivered, but the initial freak show interest wore off before November '16. Has to be something else.
