(30,333 posts)I know Syrian-Armenian Americans who support Assad. I'm Armenian myself. Assad supports the "status quo" and the upper class.
Many likely lean GOP anyway. It's more about Syria than America and she doesn't care about other stuff. Her family is likely well off, so it doesn't matter who wins in her mind.
Assad's supporters will turn it around to make sound like it's all about the "poor colonized, victimized brown people". Their hatred of Israel unites them more than anything.
It doesn't matter whether they're an Assad supporter or a supporter of his opposition. They hate Israel.

With regards to skin color among Syrians, it's quite variable and probably has little to do with economic status. I was being facetious over Assad cuz he just happens to be fair and is married to a European.
I'm sure they're also numerous fair skinned refugees and displaced Syrians. It seems to be more about political views than skin color over there.
