In reply to the discussion: 7 Reasons This Muffin Mix Can Save America. [View all]Greybnk48
(10,364 posts)34. I've used Jiffy mixes literally all of my adult life (50+ years).
My sister told me about the Jiffy cornbread mix when I was about 25. I don't remember what they cost in '73 or '74, but they have always fit my budget. I seem to remember being able to buy them (mix and match) at times for 4 boxes for a buck. I have never bought a Jiffy mix that wasn't delicious.
We had a friend who used the cornbread mix all the time, but her's always tasted a bit better than ours. For YEARS we tried to figure it out, and she wouldn't tell us!
*Mix it as little as possible, just like any quick bread. It will come out as good as any scratch recipe.
