Showing Original Post only (View all)As the daughter of an Auschwitz survivor I'm struggling [View all]
These last few weeks have made me so so anxious. Between trumps incessant antisemitic tropes and anticipatory scapegoating, to marking a year since the brutal hamas attacks, to antisemitic responses to the hurricanes and now a trump rally in Madison Square Garden, in my home, New York City,I am almost paralyzed with fear. Intergenerational trauma is real my friends.
Gives new meaning to existential dread.

I am sorry. I just heard about his planned MSG rally and saw Michael Beschloss' reminder of the 1920s era

Yes. Nazi Rally in 1939; KKK Rally in 1924 (Beschloss mentioned after Trump's announcement this morning)

How right you are. There is also the gaslighting, the casual dismissal of anti-Semitism, ignoring it...

You're not alone. This is the year to channel that into working like hell to win this election.

I would never downplay what you are feeling, because you are completely justified. As first- and second-person

Don't let the bigots count on you to be helpless and hopeless. That's what they want.

Hear, hear. Genocidal Likudniks DO NOT represent Jews, any more than Christo-fascist MAGAnuts represent Christianity

Many cultures have the belief that as long as a name is spoken that person still lives.

You are incredibly brave. It is sad that it must be difficult for you even here.
