Trump has made me start going to church again [View all]

I started thinking about it after the election, because my stress was so bad, and nothing that usually works was cutting it (my wife's love, therapy). I was raised Catholic, became what my grandma called a heathen for decades, and mainly enjoyed being semi into nature religions. I started watching a local Episcopal mass via stream around Christmas -- a welcoming church with all the bells and whistles I love.

Then Bishop Budde's bravery made me reach out to the church, and I had a really nice dialogue with the Canon. I told her I wasn't really a believer, and she told em I didn't need to be one to come, and that there church was a waystation for many, for however long it was needed, although she hoped it would become permanent. And that whatever I needed, was given freely with love and support.

It is the church that took in and cared for the migrants DeSantis sent to California last year. They practice what they preach, and are wholly welcoming.

So, my wife and I went yesterday, and it was a nice hour spent with like-minded folks, and it's something I never thought I would ever do again.

I know some DUers will mock me, and that's okay. God still loves you (COME ON that part was a joke).
