Last week my husband dug out his old pedometer for me. [View all]

He found the one he was using before he retired.

I thought it was kind of amusing at the time, but he mentioned when he handed it over, that it was official cleared to use in a SCIF. (A facility handling highly classified information).

It doesn't connect to any wifi, or networks, or apps, or anything else. It looks like a small oven timer, it counts steps, estimated distance based on steps, and time. There's no GPS locator in it, no keypad.

All the same, he had to go through channels to get it approved in writing so he could use it at work.

This week, I'm looking at it, and shaking my head trying to figure out how the people handling the top level intel in our country are using their cell phones on messaging apps, some of them in Russia, no less, and pretending they didn't know it was a problem to disclose war plans.

And on a more personal note, if the administration can't figure out why that's a problem, why on earth should we trust DOGE to protect our SSNs and banking info?
