(16,038 posts)effect on Australia's violent crime...in fact their violent crime has increased since their ban. People wish to consider "gun violence" to the complete disregard for violent crime in general. Gun control has effected gun crime in the same way outlawing black cars would reduce black car accidents...no impact on car accidents, but black car accidents would be nonexistent.
There will never be 3/4 of the states agreeing to outlaw guns...or repeal the 2nd amendment. Try if you like. The point is that a petition to congress to "repeal the second amendment" is barking up the wrong tree.
Further, while Australia has experienced increases in violent crime since their ban, the US has had almost 30 years of reduced violent crime including crimes committed with firearms according to the BJS.
