(15,359 posts)At my first "real job" in the "real world" in the late 90s, I was in a group and made friends with two or three guys who went to "celebrate holidays." They would use it as an excuse to out the Friday before whatever holiday was coming up. I'm sure it was about the scantily clad girls - especially at first - I won't deny that's an attraction, but we all got addicted to their buffalo chicken sandwiches, and we all enjoyed the company of this one waitress, who was very intelligent - she was in her late twenties and going back to college (already had one degree). She worked at Hooters because it fit her schedule, and she realized she had the assets to make it pay well for her - not just physically, but she could do the party girl routine and schmooze. She was personable, told great jokes, and once sang, "Me and Bobby McGee," acapela and sounded just like Janis Joplin.
Plus, she totally insulted our boss one time when he insisted on coming with us (though we didn't want him along). After one of her jokes, he told one that involved ripping up a napkin and rearranging the pieces into a cross, where the punchline was more of an attempt at proselytization. She just looked straight at him and said, "Boy... that sucked."
