20. The first thing that comes to mind for me is…

I miss my daughter and my sister. Time for another trip to Florida!

Before Katrina, I spent a week at Indian Rocks Beach on the Gulf side. I loved it, which was a surprise to me because I’m a big fan of the Atlantic Ocean. The water was so much warmer it was a pleasure to jump right in. I actually thought of maybe retiring near the Gulf. After Katrina, when I learned just how many oil drilling rigs are in Gulf of Mexico, I changed my mind.

I later spent a week on the Atlantic side in Satellite Beach where I mostly just stayed at the condo we had rented and enjoyed reading on the beach. It was heaven.

My sister and one of my daughters live in Port St. Lucie so I’ve been there also.

My favorite part of Disney World was Epcot followed by Animal Kingdom.

Another place I liked was Busch Gardens even though I don’t like amusement park rides at all. There were a lot of shows to see and things to do.

There are at least two scenic drives I want to make when I get down there again. The Florida Keys Scenic Highway and The Tamiami Trail Scenic Highway.

Then there is The National Parks Service/Florida that shows many other things to see:

Here is a link to The Official Tourism Website: http://www.visitflorida.com/
It’s not very user friendly, they could have done a better job. But that takes away nothing from the fact that “Sunshine State” is well worth visiting.

Just for fun here’s a list of some famous Floridians:

Julian Cannonball Adderley jazz saxophonist, Tampa
Pat Boone singer, Jacksonville
Fernando Bujones ballet dancer, Miami
Steve Carlton baseball player, Miami
Howie Dorough singer, Orlando
Fay Dunaway actress, Bascom
Stepin Fetchit comedian, Key West
Dwight Gooden baseball player, Tampa
Zora Neale Hurston writer, Eatonville
James Weldon Johnson author, educator, Jacksonville
Frances Langford singer, Lakeland
A. J. McLean singer, West Palm Beach
Butterfly McQueen actress, Tampa
Jim Morrison singer, Melbourne
Osceola Seminole Indian leader
Sidney Poitier actor, Miami
A. Philip Randolph labor leader, Crescent City
Janet Reno attorney general, Miami
David Robinson basketball, Key West
Joseph W. Stilwell army general, Palatka
Don Sutton baseball player, Pensacola
Norman E. Thargard astronaut
Ben Vereen actor, Miami
