(12,132 posts)42. My grandma on my mother's side
lived in Nokomis for 80 something years but she and my grandpa (who died when I was really young so I barely remember him) were carnival people from wayyyyyyyyyyy back....She had friends in Gibsonton...I have heard from family that she was friends with one or two of the little people who were munchkins in Wizard of Oz but I don't if that had anything to do with Gibsonton.
Oh there is a grapefruit tree in Nokomis that my grandpa planted the day I was born. At least, it was still there the last time I drove by a few years ago. I love that tree but I don't much like grapefruit. My little brother got a tangerine tree. too bad I can't trade him lol. I guess it doesn't matter now since the property is out of the family now.

Tallahassee is my home town. Born there in 1957 and left 30 years later. I loved it there and hope

I haven't been there since 1958, but it always seemed too hot and sticky for me.
