It is stated on the information that is with the device when you buy it that misuse of the item for anything but the intended purpose is a felony. I'm pretty sure that includes accidentally shooting a child with it. But if you're on the right side of the thin blue line protective society, felonies are punished with three day suspensions and you are gently chastised.
