Employers Skirting Minimum Wage Classifying Workers As Contractors. [View all]

More and more employers are classifying workers as "contractors" to escape minimum wage and tax laws. The Labor Department does not have the staff to enforce labor laws. Wage theft in many states goes unpunished. Wage and labor divisions have been pretty much dismantled or underfunded.

So if you work and do not get paid, there is little you can do but go to small claims court with a RW judge. Contract employment for workers is the new model for employers. You pay all your own expenses.
