(143,654 posts)It is tough at times but Texas will turn blue eventually. The demographics will control this change and eventually the GOP will not be able to keep Hispanics from voting. Texas is already a majority minority state and the GOP is only able to win due to the low turnout and registration rates of Hispanic voters. The voter id law may be a good thing in that there are Hispanics who are pissed at the concept of the GOP trying to steal their vote.
Right now, the women vote is going to be important and the GOP is on the wrong side of the war on women.
Battleground Texas has a good action plan and the Texas Democratic Party is getting its act together. Under Boyd Ritchie, the plan was to spend money on East Texas and try to get people in East Texas to vote for Democrats. That was a waste of money except for the consultants who were friends with Boyd. Now the Texas Democratic Party is focusing on races that we can win and on developing an infrastructure. Judge Hinojosa is doing a great job and I feel good about where the party is headed.
I was out registering voters this weekend as well as working on a fund raiser where we will roast Juanita Jean. I am convinced that Texas will be blue at some point.
It is tough being in Texas but things are looking up
