have more Indian heritage than they realize.

You cannot always tell by looking at a person whether they are of Indian descent.

I have two children. They have exactly the same genetic heritage. One is extremely Scandinavian or North European looking. As for the other, one of her teachers asked me what race she was. We categorize people by skin tone or color, but it is not always so easy.

Same mother. Same father. Very different appearance. You can only judge racial background of a person if that background is strongly of one race or the other. You would be very surprised at how this can work in a family that has been racially or ethnically diverse for some generations.
