(46,179 posts)There aren't any trick or treaters on my little private, dead end dirt road. There never are. Many of our families live semi-rurally outside of town, so they go into town for trick-or-treating. Downtown businesses stay open, have scarecrow contests, and pass out candy; there's a large crowd of families making their way up and down main street. There are also some "trunk or treat" events, where people show up with their car decorated, and pass out candy from their trunks; in a parking lot or field, it doesn't matter.
Listening to the grapevine at work, plenty of kids had something planned.
Up here, though, people usually try to be done by dark, and it's dark before 7. It can be COLD out there. It's not unusual for costumes to be hidden under winter coats.
