(27,310 posts)It is supplied by local farms and that pretty much does it for us. We supplement at the Wednesday farmer's market and shop for staples at the organic workers co-op. The beans and grains that we buy are locally grown. Our bread is from Alvarado Street bakery - another local worker co-op. As is the granola I buy... etc., etc.
We don't eat any four legged animals but we will have cook fish or chicken about once or twice a month. Both locally sourced.
I am lucky to
1) live in Northern California with its abundance of locally farmed food
2) have an abundance of sources to access that locally farmed food
My husband and I (and sometimes our adult daughter) eat at locally owned restaurants that prepare their food from scratch and use primarily organic ingredients.
In San Francisco, it is very easy to eat out in places that do not depend on corporate food and that do not underpay their help. In that respect, I am also lucky.
