You're on a trip somewhere unfamiliar and need to get food. Does that mean you should find the local co-op/farmers market? Five pounds of potatoes huh. And how do you prepare them if you aren't at home? And what if the local market isn't even open when you want to eat?
Really ... Under some very ordinary circumstances, your suggestion of "the market" is virtually impossible.
