(26,553 posts)I worked my way through the comments and recognized a few Republican talking points. Yeah, yeah, everyone's a lazy slug and responsible for their own lot in life.. blah, blah, blah, and bullshit.
I'm a certified boomer, born in 1947. You may not blame us boomers for giving us Ronald Reagan, but I sure as hell do. I used to think Americans could think for themselves and if they hear conflicting messages, would "look it up" and come to the truth. After all, we were the "just the facts, ma'am" generation. Then, Reagan elected in a landslide, WTF?
I've raised 3 children.. all have college degrees, none of their jobs are related to their degrees. We have an American story here; rising above and doing ok in spite of the bullshit, crappy government policies installed by Republicans and Democrats who are brainwashed to think like Republicans. We've been lucky! I wish everyone could be as lucky as we've been, but it just doesn't happen. We need a strong government to regulate out of control corporations and provide safe water, air and a future for my grandchildren.
Everything is political. My generation used to know that!
