(4,276 posts)I enjoy observing the young people around me. About ten years ago, I noticed that the young people appeared to be more sensible, more tolerant, more knowledgeable, more efficient, and more technically skilled than almost anybody in my generation. Hurry and grow up the rest of the way, and start running the world. Please! Pull on your faces to get a few wrinkles, and pretend to be older. Or something. Among baby boomers, something like this happened: Most of us at least dabbled and many of us waded right into the Counterculture. Those few goody two shoes who did not, who persisted in parroting right-wing talk and wearing the uptight conventional garb everywhere (girdles and ties with very short hair), were over-rewarded by our terrified parental generation, shoved into well-paid positions of responsibility, regardless of their actual mental capacity. Even today, these people show unmistakable signs of over-reinforcement. Look for your chance, and do not hesitate to take it. I think you guys are really going to save the world!
