(32,017 posts)But I must note that I am not a millennial, and this thread isn't about millennials. It's about Generation X, and many of us can see the writing on the wall. We see where the less-fortunate Boomers are, and we know that we will be un-employable very, very soon, yet we lack any kind of economic security. Many of us are middle-aged and dead broke. Our parents, generally speaking, were much better off when they were our age.
Actually, there's still hope for the Millennials and the generation that follows them, if we can turn around our politics, but hope is rapidly fading for Generation X. Many of us are in our 40s now, and we're still struggling. If we can't get a decent, good-paying job very soon that we can then hold for ten or more years (so that we actually get something decent out of Social Security), we're done for. Many of us can't even buy used cars for our teen-aged children. The idea of putting them through college is enough to keep many of us up at night. If we were still young, there might be more hope. But we're not ... we're middle-aged and broke.
I still feel that many Boomers just don't get it. In fact, they tend to forget us entirely ... as you did in your response. I suspect that was not your intent. Peace.
