(6,267 posts)See, most of the people that I knew where childless because no way did they have the money/income to have children. It seems to me as though people who remain childless simply don't get counted.... and another group are those who were trying to change the system and refused to join the capitalism/consumer culture. Most of these people had advanced degrees....a number of these folks went on to become subsistence homesteaders/farmers and figured out a lot of the organic farming practices that are utilized today.
There were so many people that never got a decent job in the first place and never caught up. Others never tried for philosophical reasons. Most folks in these camps also did not have children for ecological and financial reasons. Those who did have children give the younger generations of today the impression that all the boomers were like the boomers that had children. But a whole lot of boomers never fit into the stereotype.
