Obviously this isn't an issue that's "germane to the dem side". Just because it's "germane" to humanity in general, well, apparently we better not discuss those kinds of issues! We'd better stick to talking about "actual critical news and issues"!
An epidemic of rape? Well that's simply not a critical issue, sea!
