In reply to the discussion: Dear Mr. President, [View all]treestar
(82,383 posts)14. So you think it is disrespectful of the office
to state something along the lines of you are my favorite president and I love you? What terms are proper to use for admiration or respect for the President? Or is it simply uncool to ever do so and one much always look for the negative and look for ways to feel like we are all being screwed?
I was watching Obama's speech on the minimum wage and someone in the crowd yells "I love you!" He will say in those situations, "I love you back." Is this a terrible, indecorous proceeding, not worthy of the office of the Presidency?

So you think my post is treating Mr. President like a mindless teenage heart throb. Yeah like I

Yes, your love letter is treating the President of the United States like a member of One Direction.

And you have the right to your opinion which I also have the right to ignore as I have to be civil.

I think it's disturbing to tell a sitting President he's your "favorite" and that you love him.

As I've already state, it is the extent of the admiration, not that someone likes the President.

Yes, I was a freshman in college when I helped elect Obama to his first term...

I think it is inappropriate for an informed citizen to so strongly admire their political leaders.

The reality of a Presidential administration is NEVER as endearing as fantasy.

Funny. I have never considered the reality of holding the office of President of the United States
