was because I thought it was absurd to have to say the Pledge of Allegiance every single damn day when I didn't even believe in God any more and didn't feel particularly nationalistic and probably never will. That awful Christian school pretty much taught me that no amount of prayer would stop my daily beatings over nothing and being denied the basic same rights as males in school and in everyday life here. So, the entire idea of it all was stupid to me. Still is.

How that fucker thinks is exactly how many in the Bible Belt think. That asshole and those assholes who were in charge of that school I went to growing up are deranged sickos. That kind of quote from him is just the surface, folks. It gets way worse in back rooms, schools, private homes, and some churches down here. Fuck them and the cruel and disgusting things that they do and get by with it. That is the worst part. They get by with it, because everyone else assumes everyone in the south agrees with them. We don't. Some of us are long since fed up with their nonsense, but I'll be goddamned if I'll be run out of my own home by them. I'll stay and vote against them here in NC just like a lot of southern Democrats will continue to do to try to eventually change things for the better, if we can GOTV enough.
