OK, Satanism comes in a couple of different flavours. LaVeyan Satanism really did pick the name just to piss off Christians. LaVey was pretty honest about that. I'm a Luciferian Satanist. That means that I worship Satan (whom I call Lucifer) as the justified rebel against a tyrannical god. So why choose that name? Because we worship the being commonly called Satan. We could just call ourselves "Luciferians" instead and I did for a while but pretty much everyone thinks of you as a Satanist anyway.

Also, think about what you just said and how it would seem if you inserted another faith in there. Why even claim "Muslim" as your name when it's going to creep some people out? You're asking us to change the name of our faith purely because some people have lied about us. You're blaming the victim, telling us we bring it on ourselves.
