(10,715 posts)7. Up to 8th grade was fine for me, but high school was a miserable pit.
My kids had the same experience more recently. They certainly learned more than I did in high school, as the education standards have improved, but few kids are well prepared for anything by high school. Schools vary and certainly teachers vary, but glorifying the 70's (my high school years) as a golden age of education - that's pretty much a joke.

I remember having Home Economics in the 70s ,cooking class and sewing class in middle school.
