(48,955 posts)I always enjoy seeing you. If I recall our life paths had many similarities (per areas of living and work; as well as some academic experiences.) I am glad you are still around, albeit like me, not posting much.
The first year with the jury system on DU3, and its sympathetic support to appologists for sexual assault - in the days (and then weeks, and then months) after Steubanville - left me less likely to participate. It's odd, though. I stepped even further back (dropped the star membership, posted even less) - but in the ensuing time the tone on current similar topic threads is significantly different. Maybe currents were changing and minds were opening - and it just took a lot of time and conversations for those currents to take hold.
See, I still try to hold onto positive hope. Like that the ripples and currents started 3 summers ago in the summer/fall of Occupy - have changed the nature of many political conversations. Indeed the younger generation in my family (all college students or recent graduates) - have a much broader sense of social responsibility mixed with cynicism towards the way things are now. They (and the students I work with) keep giving me glimmers of hope. As does (despite how frustrating and cantankerous it can be) this forum. It's why I sill read it - even if I don't participate much.
Said way to much - sorry. It is good to see you Lydia. Hope life is treating you well.
regards,
