(5,744 posts)And I think most men aren't. Not that we 'aren't allowed' to... we just aren't. We hear a joke, we know it's just that: a joke. A joke is supposed to be an exaggeration of the real world.
"Men are interested in only one thing..." Yeah, that's us! "Men will say or do anything to get inside a woman's pants"... Yeah, that's us! "Men are as faithful as their options. Your husband is not a hero for not cheating on you, he just never had the opportunity" (heard that one from Bill Maher)... Yeah, that's us! We admit that. We can see that and we can laugh about it when it's pointed out. We accept that we are perceived a certain way and, even though it may not be true about each and every one of us PERSONALLY, we acknowledge it's true for LOTS of us, and that's why we see the humor in it. Or we just laugh at the stereotypes. We know stereotypes are not meant to be taken seriously and that's why we find them funny.
However, when a comedian makes a joke about women... Or just *a* woman... that's a misogynistic pig who's enabling The Patriarchy in devaluing and degrading women and now we need to have a 200-post discussion about it.
