A loophole in the federal system currently allows people to buy firearms sold online and at gun shows without first passing a background check.


That statement is just plainly not true. Any dealer that has an FFL has to do a background check to include gunshows. Any firearm ordered online that crosses state lines has to be shipped to an FFL and a background check completed at point of pickup of the firearm. That is federal law now.

Of course if you are in the same state, an intrastate transfer is covered by state law and some states do include background checks for those transactions.

Facts matter, and I wish the great and wonderful press would at least be factual in the story.

How about we open up the NICS to private individuals and give them a go or no go to keep with the bill of sale?
