(10,893 posts)was just yesterday, where I was able to cast my first vote ever and when everyone at my high school was excited about the possibility of a Black president. I'll miss him too. I'll miss having a president who was so inspirational and appreciated by people worldwide. I'll miss his clear-headed approach to tackling the country's problems (e.g. keeping us out of additional wars and contributing to a steadily lowering UE rate). It's a shame he never had a fully functioning Congress for about 3/4 of his presidency because there was room for potential. He got the most accomplished when D's controlled all 3 branches, and things were just getting started. In the distant (or maybe even not so distant future), I won't be surprised if people look back and have a more positive view of his time in office. The only things I won't miss are reading the hyperbole and CT's about him online, and seeing the anti-Obama crowd on my TV. Once he leaves in 2017, I'm sure he's going to enjoy the time away from the spotlight. It will be much less stressful for him to no longer have to deal with the immaturity of some in Congress, the lies from FOX News et al, or campaign season.
