(50,983 posts)53. I agree 100%. I don't think it's a matter of misinterpretation.
I think they interpret the bible based on what they want to believe and what they want to push as a biblical truth/meme. Christ's central theme was helping the poor, sick, and otherwise down trodden. Christ also seemed to have a thing against the accumulation of wealth, wealth that should be used to help the less fortunate. In my mind this is perfectly clear.
