Because it doesn't fit their narrative, it doesn't fit their intrinsic fear/hatred of gays, and it challenges them to basically live the true Christian life of not judging others and loving thy neighbor as thyself (the second of the only TWO commands Christ was known to give, by the way).
They'd rather spend all their time concocting ridiculous, improbable scenarios instead of doing more constructive things -- like serving the poor, working for justice...you know, all the things that Christ also told His followers to do.
I'm fed up with the entire lot of them.
