hire gay pastors, etc and that they'll lose their tax exemptions otherwise. They're really freaked out about their tax exemptions.

Of course that's dumb, and churches have wide latitude to do whatever they want. But there are some issues on the fringes of their concerns (married student housing at their colleges, for example) where the ruling could cause them some genuine legal headaches. But nothing proportionate to their level of panic.
