than to think some collection of myths is how I should be living my life.

One of the things I really do dislike about the Bible is that it is a completely short-attention span collection of writings. There is absolutely no sustained narrative. So no wonder that those who spend a lot of time reading it aren't very good at following complex arguments and thinking. Constantly reading and rereading the Bible works completely against developing that skill set.
