Many don't feel progressives will stop with just 1 piece of gun control. They believe that after gun control is passed and fails to stop the next mass murder, there will be demands to pass more laws. And this cycle will continue until we reach a point where our laws are like Australia's and we are confiscating guns.

Even conservatives who do favor things like expanding background checks believe this and therefore vote it down. Why? Because they don't trust progressives. They think the ultimate goal of the far-left is to ban guns.
