That explains why military bases can keep the flag up from sunrise to sunset.

It was generally understand that if the flag cannot be ruined by rain (such as a polyester cloth rather than cotton), then it can be left up in the rain.

My problem is that many of the so-called patriots wear flag shirts or pants, let torn flags hang, etc, and say they love the flag.
