(11,175 posts)In the last GOP debate, Jim Gilmore was omitted entirely. The rule applied was that a candidate had to be polling at least one percent to qualify.
Gilmore groused about his omission. The fact is, though, that anyone putting on a debate needs to apply some criteria. There are, I think, literally hundreds of people in each major party who've filed with the FEC as candidates. For example, we were saying there were 17 GOP candidates before Perry withdrew, but that's omitting Mark Everson. He's on almost no one's radar, but he's a former Commissioner of Internal Revenue, so he's at least a cut above the various loons who don't even have a Wikipedia article.
It's possible that, by the next debate, Walker could join Gilmore out in the front yard, with his nose pressed against the window wishing he could at least be at the kiddie table.
