14. I don't own a TV, and so thanks to

the way Fox broadcasts, I can't watch the games live. Alas, poor me, sniff, sniff.

Anyway, last year I tuned into one of the local KC TV stations just as one of the home games was ending. I honestly don't recall which one, although I think it was one they lost. Forty-five minutes after the game ended the stadium was still filled with happy, exuberant fans.

The spirit of the people in Kansas City is amazing to behold. I lived there from 1990-2008, and all of those years the Royals were something of a joke. Yeah, there was a certain amount of home town support, but mostly a lot of resignation at how not very good they were. Then last year they exploded, and I heard lots of stories from friends and relatives there about how genuinely nice the players were, which is always great to hear. This year's team from what I can tell is much the same.

Of course, no team EVER "deserves" to win a World Series just because it's been thirty years or because the players are nice. But the first two games certainly make me think the Royals will win the crown, as they are all saying there. Heck, I should consider driving there just to be in town if that happens.

My son was at tonight's game, and I had a great time texting him throughout.
