(6,169 posts)99. I agree that "uneducated" has a lot to do with it.
Along with what others mentioned, I also think part of it is that they don't teach the history of working people in school. Anyone who has read much about the history of working people should be terrified by the GOP, who are blatantly trying to take away the gains the working class has made over the last hundred years. Too many people don't understand that things like weekends, minimum wages, workplace safety, etc. are not just given to workers out of kindness.
Sadly, the Dems haven't exactly been the champions of working people either, lately. So that's probably part of it. And the GOP are good at making their assaults on working people sound helpful. ("Right to Work" for example.)
