(25,428 posts)29. Gerrymandering is a huge problem here. It dissuades local efforts and that bleeds over into
the state and national races. It's also kind of a self-fulfilling prophecy. If there's little reason to try to win House races - and, really, the way the state has been hacked up makes a huge percentage of them safe - then it's hard to convince people to GOTV for the other races.
Not that we shouldn't try, of course.
But, as the old joke goes, all politics is local. Has to start there.
